Enough is enough
Dear All
As I approach my 80th birthday, like many people, young and old, I struggle to make a sense of what is going on around me. I don’t buy newspapers anymore, rarely watch the news (until very recently) and try to stay away from the barrage of negativity that sells the world’s news!
How is one to make any positive sense out of Brexit, the COVID pandemic, rising energy prices, choices between petrol/diesel, heating, food, Climate Change/Global Warming and the horrific events unfolding for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine?
I can only come to one conclusion s I attempt to peer through this fog of negativity. Perhaps, just perhaps, this is an opportunity for all of us to realise that we all need each other as the gaps between the ’haves’ and ‘have nots’ grow ever wider.
Even in small ways, the Pandemic has shown acts of kindness on an unprecedented scale not seen since the Second World War. The war in Ukraine has seen the people of Wales donate over 8 million pounds to the Disaster Emergency Fund, bringing some relief to millions of refugees who flee their country in fear of their lives.
Now is the time we, and the world, should say, “enough is enough” now is the time to beat the sword into a ploughshare; NOW is the time to grasp the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves in any way we can, for are we not all brothers and sisters?
